Transforming Medical Education

vDOC was built for medical students. It's the tool we have always wanted.

Who we are is simple, we are a group of people who love learning new things. Founder and creator Dr. Bryce Arnold DO, is a practicing internal medicine hospitalist.

What's next for vDOC is going to be up to its users. There are many more cases to add, social complexities, additional interactions that can be added.

We can't wait to announce new upcoming features, and get feedback on vDOC's core!

FAQs

How does vDOC decide what treatment plans are appropriate for each case?

Treatment recommendations are based on evidence-based medicine and industry-accepted best practices. vDOC was built and is maintained by a practicing physician that regularly reviews and updates the content to ensure it aligns with current medical guidelines. As vDOC grows, so will this team.

Why doesn't vDOC use Virtual Reality (VR) for its simulations?

While VR technology is exciting, we've chosen not to incorporate it into vDOC for several reasons:

Cost Barrier: VR equipment can be expensive, which would limit accessibility for many students.

Limited Added Value: Our proprietary physical exam provide approximately 90% of the educational value of a hands-on exam without the need for VR.

Focus on Clinical Reasoning: vDOC prioritizes developing clinical reasoning skills, and verbalization skills with a patient, which don't necessarily benefit from VR integration.

Accessibility: Our current platform allows users to access simulations from any compatible device without additional hardware. We believe that putting a high acquisition cost on users for the remaining 5% of potential value doesn't align with our goal of providing accessible, high-quality medical education. However, we continuously monitor technological advancements and may integrate VR in the future if it can provide significant added value without compromising accessibility.

Is vDOC suitable for all levels of medical education?

vDOC is designed primarily for medical students and residents. However, it can be valuable for a range of learners, from early medical students to practicing physicians looking to refine their skills.

Can I share my account with others?

No, account sharing is strictly prohibited. Each user must have their own account. After purchasing, a license key will be provided that will only work one time, on one machine.

Is the patient data in vDOC real?

No, all patient data in vDOC simulations is fictitious and created for educational purposes only. However, our cases are designed to closely mimic real-world scenarios.

Each patient has a highly detailed and robust data set that is coupled with the vDOC Framework, so the patient changes based on the medical students' treatment. You will find in vDOC that emotions, physical characteristics, body movement, the way they talk, their facial expressions all change dynamically based on treatment decisions, or even the lack of treatment.

How secure is my data on vDOC?

We take data security seriously. All data is stored on secure servers, and we implement robust security measures to protect your personal information and usage data. For more details, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Is there a limit to how many cases I can complete?

No, with your purchased license key, you have unlimited access to all available cases. We encourage frequent practice to maximize your learning.

Are there any device requirements to use vDOC?

Yes, vDOC is currently optimized for desktop/laptop use (Windows only currently)

  • Windows 11 recommended
  • 16GB RAM recommended
  • Modern CPU (12th Gen Intel / Ryzen 5000 or newer recommended)

Prior to purchase it is recommended to run the demo to ensure your computer can successfully run vDOC.

How often will new cases and features be added?

We're committed to continuously expanding our library of cases and features. The vDOC framework allows our teams to quickly add cases based on need and feedback. Once in production, new cases and features associated with new cases will frequently show up in vDOC. At launch have 20 Cases, our goal is to have over 100 cases added to vDOC Over the next 12 months. Users will be notified via email about significant additions.

What type of medical simulations does vDOC offer?

vDOC offers a wide range of medical simulations covering various specialties and scenarios commonly encountered in the United States healthcare system. Our cases are designed to challenge and improve clinical reasoning, diagnosis, patient interactions, and treatment planning skills. Patients in vDOC react to the medical students care in real time. vDOC brings together all hospitals systems needed to perform care just like in real life, Conversational AI allows the students to practice verbalizing care and treatments, and lastly the real-time feedback as the case progresses is already proving to drastically improve information retention.

Early testing has also had a major impact on confidence levels for students who are preparing to perform patient encounters for the first time. Having a place to practice a patient encounter without the pressure of your peers, or an attending, has become a common point of feedback from students.

How does vDOC evaluate my performance?

After each case, you will be shown a comprehensive evaluation of your performance. This includes an assessment of your history-taking, physical examination, lab orders, and treatment decisions that apply to that specific patient encounter. The evaluation compares your choices to best practices and provides detailed feedback. We also evaluate your dialogue with your patient, did you take a proper H&P etc.... Dialogue analysis and feedback is something we are putting extensive effort into because of the value that it brings. This data is also sent to our secure servers so it can be reviewed later. We are working on lots of tools to provide insights and additional ways to analyze and learn from each case.

Can vDOC be used for official medical training or continuing education credits?

While vDOC is a powerful learning tool, it is not currently accredited for official continuing medical education (CME)credits. Always check with your institution or licensing board for approved CME sources. This is on the Development roadmap.
